From Oregon With Love

The Burpee Mile for time

5 comments:

  1. So funny story. Getting out of the shower this morning (not my own shower - at in-laws here in Oregon) I banged my 2nd toe really hard on some type of a soap rack. Anyways, I think I'm gonna go easy on the toe tomorrow. The wod is this: to do the burpee mile either Friday or Saturday. I will do mine Saturday morning at a local school track. Feel free to post the other workout you do if you end up doing so.

With the burpees: no walking at all, rest position is standing up, hands for push-ups go where feet land (the dude on the crossfit video cheats like no other)

  5. After reading your comments I hope you aren't beating yourself up - you did your best for the moment. That is the essence of CrossFit. I have been feeling bummed because I did it but gave into temptation a couple of times and took a couple of steps (during 3rd lap). I was pretty strict for 98% of the time, which I know isn't perfect, but this TOTALLY SUCKED. I was actually okay for the most part but my body shut down during the hours following. I did the entire mile in 1:39:50.

Don't go out and do it again and don't feel bad. We will have the privilege of doing this again. Although, I am not ignorant any more and don't know if I will ever be STUPID enough to do this again. For anybody reading this who has never done this, reserve all judgment until you do this for yourself. I feel that two marathons can't hold a candle to this, but, then again, I've never done two marathons. Point is, this was a total challenge for the entire body.

It was kind of funny, though, the only track I could find was at a high school out here. The only problem was that there was a football game going on and there were many spectators. It was raining the whole time (Oregon normal). The funny and annoying thing was the spectators. There were a group of kids who kept me company for a while and some kids from one of the football teams took their picture with me as I was exercising. Anyways, I'm sure you got the same stares I got while you were bombing.

I am looking forward to your wods next week, bro'. I hope this week was good for you. I hope I can walk on Monday. I'll try and rest up. Worst case scenario I'll just lift weights with the muscle groups that I can.
